How often should I review my Estate Plans?
Rex Crandell Firm recommends you revisit your plans every 5 years to make sure everything is up to date!
How often should I review my Estate Plans is a question we have been asked many times.
Keep in mind that Estate Plans are not static. What happens over time is people identified as successor trustee may pass away, there may be additional births in the family, more assets may be acquired, etc. Changes are bound to happen and we recommend having your Estate Plans looked at or reviewed for changes every 5-6 years. It is common that you may need to update for assets and changes in your family or changes in your overall plan of who should receive your assets after you’re gone.
When is it a good time to revisit your Estate Plans?
- Birth or death in the family
- Real estate is acquired or sold
- Want to change successor trustee for any reason
- Beneficiaries need to be changed
There are many reasons why you may need to update or review your Estate Plans.
Rex Crandell Firm recommends you revisit your plans at least once every 5 years or so just to make sure everything is up to date.
